Services For Families
Classroom Connections

At The Living Through Learning Foundation we know you have two goals; survival, and keeping things as normal as possible.  One of the most common problems reported by students with chronic health conditions is the time away from friends and missed time in the classroom. Students describe feeling isolate and wish there was a way to stay connected to friends during the day.  Other students express anxiety over missed schoolwork and time away from their teachers.

Recently new technology in the form of web-cams makes it possible for sick kids to stay connected to their friends, teachers, and classwork. We are honored to work with families and schools to show how easy and valuable it is to set up and utilize this type of system. The benefits cannot be counted in bits and bytes.

Virtual Field Trips

We recognize that many of the most memorable learning experiences happen outside of the classroom.  Therefore the Living Through Learning Foundation provides virtual field trips for students with chronic health conditions.  These unique experiences can happen just about anywhere; hospital in-patient units, out patient clinics, or even from home!  You let us know what your child is interested in and we'll try to connect them to a museum, art, zoo, or cultural center that specializes in that area of interest.

Goal Setting

Families of children with Chronic Health Conditions will be given a free on-line assessment.  This assessment covers both immediate and long term educational goals as well as immediate and long term life goals.  From this assessment, our staff “scores” the assessment and provides the family with general recommendations and typical challenges in achieving the short or long term goals.
